The village of Castle Acre is a major tourist centre for Norfolk. The church of St. James stands in the middle of the village amidst the ruins of the Norman Castle and those of Castle Acre Priory. Visitors can often miss the church which is a great shame for it contains many interesting features, including the wine glass pulpit illustrated above. Plus the medieval rood screen and font cover. The Friends of Castle Acre Church assist with raising funds to maintain this fine church.
In 2020 we hope to re-slate the Chancel roof- if you would like to help with this project, donations may be sent to the church treasurer Mr Martin Webster, c/o Woodford Lodge, Tittleshall, Norfolk PE32 2PF - thank you. Cheques should be made payable to the Castle Acre Church Restoration Fund.

"Individuals who wish to make representations about safeguarding can make direct contact with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (email:firstname.lastname@example.org or 01603 882345). However, recognising that this may not feel safe for those with a lived experience of abuse from within the Church, a dedicated telephone helpline - 0800 80 20 20 - operated independently from the Church, by the NSPCC is also available."
